We arrived at the hotel having spent four nights in another hotel in Marrakech, and were unsure what to expect given its remote location relative to our previous four nights. However, we were delighted to discover that the Taj Atlas is a brilliant location to spend a few nights in a peaceful area, with exceptionally attentive and friendly staff and more than adequate facilities. Whilst this hotel can’t boast the glitz and glamour of its chain rivals, what it lacks in this respect it makes up for in its picturesque grounds, warm and friendly atmosphere, and great levels of service. The food menu is not vast, however it ably catered for our needs. The room was cleaned to a good standard and the pool area well maintained. It has a brilliant roof terrace for the evenings and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend and hopefully will return soon.

The hotel is 50km from Marrakesh along quiet roads which take you past the lake and some beautiful views. The hotel is 1.6km off the main road hidden away in the countryside. I took a taxi from Marrakesh to the hotel for 500 Dhm, but on the way back to Marrakesh I took the bus (45 I think) it cost 12 dhm and felt save and clean though it was quite busy. All of the locals were very helpful and kind to me and the others on the bus (had a community feel). The bus took around 60-70 minutes. The hotel looks very well presented with lovely gardens and a large swimming pool. I was upgraded to a large well equipped room, which was appreciated. There is a roof terrace with great views of the mountains that surround the property. There is a good amount of furniture around the pool and it is all comfortable and in good condition. There is a fitness room which has a few random items but it’s adequate for someone with previous health and fitness experience. The food served in the restaurant is of the highest quality and tastes delicious. The hotel is part of a agricultural centre so they grow all of their food locally. As a result the taste and freshness of the food is incredible. The staff members are all very kind, helpful, friendly and provide great all around service. I was there alone, but wish I had been there as a couple for longer to enjoy the experience even more. Just to note that the pool wasn’t heated and I had planned to us it but never got around it.

Before I go any further, we had a great time here and would happily return. That is not to say that there were no issues that they could not easily be fixed. On the plus side, the grounds are beautiful and the pool area is comfortable and relaxing (although short of parasols). The place is clean and the staff were lovely without exception. The food was excellent (although the menu was very limited). People have complained about having to choose your evening meal early but we didn't mind that. Breakfast is simple and tasty but some fruit would be a welcome addition.The website definitely over-sells the facilities. There was mention of tennis and table tennis but I never saw any signs of them. The spa is 'under refurbishment' and consists of a small massage menu and no hammam. That said, Mrs terrykohara said that it was one of the best massages she had ever had. The hotel is small remote and there is nothing else to do in the area but we anticipated that and took the opportunity to relax for a couple of days. In summary, not quite as described but a nice ambience and a great team.
